The Apocalypse of Eden (Half-Life 2)
A downloadable mod
The Apocalypse of Eden (also known as The Apocalypse) is a first-person survival horror mod for Half-Life 2.
Story
The crew of the XSS Ecclesiastes have morphed into horrifying monsters. With only the ship’s AI for guidance, you must survive by scavenging for supplies, overcoming obstacles and fleeing from the creatures roaming the ship’s decks.
Features
– Avoid dangerous enemies: you are defenceless against the creatures now lurking in Ecclesiastes, and so must strive to avoid them.
– Original soundtrack and original voice acting.
– Discover the backstory through audio recordings and readable logs: dig deep into the backstory by searching for audio/readable logs scattered throughout the ship.
– Inventory system based puzzles: collect items and use them to solve environmental puzzles to progress.
– Atmospheric environments: exploring is essential to finding supplies. The Apocalypse's levels are dark and atmospheric.
– Subtitles: all dialogue is subtitled. There is also a Russian translation, which provides Russian subtitles and signs.
The Apocalypse takes place in the same universe as Lunar Descent (2017) and Dissolution (2011). Like these mods, it places a strong emphasis on environmental design and story telling. The Apocalypse has a horror/survival focus, drawing inspiration from games like Amnesia and System Shock 2.
